Gratitude: the
quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return
kindness.
Someone I worked with a long time ago recently posted on
Facebook an idea which really appealed to me.
A gratitude box. He wrote that he and a friend had decided to
start January with an empty jar, and every time something good happened in
their lives they would write it down and put it in the jar. Then on the following New Year’s Eve they
would open it up and read all the entries to remind themselves of the amazing year they had had.
I love this idea. It is so simple and yet so profound.
And so I have decided to mark the start of 2013 with my own gratitude box. Well, a gratitude jar actually:
The reason I love this so much is because I know this
seemingly simple idea will be very powerful. It will help me realised how much I have to
be thankful for. Gratitude will shift my
focus from what is lacking in my life to that of the abundance already present.
Research has shown life can improve from the practice of
gratitude. Being grateful makes people happier,
it strengthens relationships, improves health, and reduces stress.
Gratitude attracts what we want. My kinesiology teacher often reminded me
“Energy follows thought”, which is a little bit along the lines of “Law of
Attraction”. The Law of Attraction says
that we will attract into our life the things we think about and focus on. So, being aware of the good things, people, experiences, and being
grateful for them, we focus on what we want in our lives - rather than the things that make us unhappy or that are missing.
You are the master of your thoughts and your thoughts create your reality. So aim to manifest more of the things you enjoy and love in your life by being grateful for what you currently have.
And if you are finding it hard to see and acknowledge the good in your life then book yourself into a kinesiology appointment to help you clear the mental and emotional blockages that are stopping you from being the person you want to be with the life you want to live.
